Despite the name, Dangerous Reef is one of the most rewarding sites in the St. John's group. A pair of pinnacles and a connecting saddle drop into the deep south of Egypt's territorial waters. The southern pinnacle is a known cleaning station for grey reef sharks; oceanic whitetips and silky sharks pass on the outer wall. Currents are unpredictable — divers stay close to the reef and ascend along the line.

Site that defines Marsa Alam diving. Sharks, walls, currents, big fish.

Hammerhead encounter at 30m was the highlight. The wall is dramatic too.
